This is the third in the “Ben Series” of using hiking and “out in the community” skills to identify and use a unique communication skill between Ben and his mother Evelyn.
Ben dictates his recollections after an experience to his Mother, and the reader can more clearly see how much he takes in information and really understand his world. This week I understood more from Ben due to 1) Ben’s comfort level with me, and 2) my getting used to Ben’s communication. I was really amazed at how much Ben saw, thought about, and retained from our days at 1) West Point, 2) Nyack/Threefold/Bear Mountain, and 3) Lonely Worm Farm. They are:
Earth Day at Lonely Worm Farm (near Poughkeepsie, NY) - April 22, 2023
Part 3 - Today we went to The Lonely Worm Farm, worked with our friend Eliza Factor. The following is transcribed by Ben’s Mom Evelyn using Ben’s words. Thanks for reading My Journey with Team Dustin! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
We drove in Mike Sweeney’s car.
We listened to Mozart, and you heard the same group you have on your record.
I saw that woman Eliza.
She was nice.
I saw goats there.
I saw the dog Magic there.
I pet her.
She hit Ben with her tail to be friendly.
I saw a rooster there.
I heard the rooster crow.
I saw chickens.
I saw the top door and the bottom door to the chicken coop.
They laid eggs inside.
I did not want to pick up the chicken eggs, so Eliza did it.
I did weaving in that room.
It was a rug.
It was fun.
They were building another house in that big pit.
They have a John Deere backhoe, but it was not green.
I saw that labyrinth.
I walked inside the labyrinth.
I saw boxes they are building for garden pits.
You can plant one yourself.
I saw that little girl there.
We bought fresh eggs from the farm.
We are going to cook them.
We are going to compare them to the store eggs.
I enjoyed going to the farm.
